Cocoa Brownies (makes about 16 squares) GV
Simple yet rich and chewy cocoa brownies. Adapted from Chewy Cocoa Brownies
Ingredients
1 1/3 cups plain flour
1 2/3 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup baking cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup melted butter
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup nuts (walnuts/pecans)
1/2 cup roughly chopped white chocolate
1/2 cup roughly chopped plain chocolate

Methods
- Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celcius
- In a large bowl sift the flour, sugar, baking powder and cocoa powder together. Stir to combine.
- In a separate bowl, whisk lightly the melted butter, eggs, water and vanilla extract
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour the wet ingredients in. Mix well then add the chopped chocolates and nuts (if using)
- Line and grease a 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Pour the batter into the pan and spread with a spatula to ensure even thickness.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out slightly sticky.
- Remove from the oven and leave it to cool completely before cutting into squares.
- Great served warm or chilled.
